Rosie's Story (my story)

My name is Rosie and I’m 15 years old. Some of my hobbies are reading, writing (in particular poetry) and researching random facts. I am in year 11 and hope to study psychology after school. My Favourite weather is rain and cold weather (really!). I also enjoy singing although I’m not very good.

I have been sick with a chronic bowl disease for about two years now. I found out just a few weeks before my 14th birthday, when I got very sick with bad pain in my stomach and mum had to rush me to the hospital. Since then things have been a rollercoaster, with ups and downs. For the first year I spent a lot of time in hospital, underwent procedures, had injections every week, took heaps of medication and had to be home schooled. There was even a time when I couldn’t walk.

Things are a little better these days. I am more stable and able to attend school part time although outside of school I can’t really go out much so keeping up with and making new friends can be difficult. This also means that I can’t go places with my family very often. On top of all this the doctors have been unable to fully diagnose me, which makes treating me harder.

But life isn't all gloomy. I have made some really good friends from my hospital and doctors. I have learnt I am far stronger that I ever knew and I have learnt I have so much to live for!

I have hope that I will soon be fully diagnosed and will continue to get better.
